I think this book is excellent not only for student but also for any veterinary pathologists. It is well writen and it has a lot of excellent figures (remember that Prof McGavin has published "Specimen Dissection and Photography: For the Pathologist, Anatomist and Biologist"). In fact, is the veterinary version of the famous Robbin's human pathology book, but with more and much better gross and histologic photos. A drawback is that only animal diseases of North America are included and for this reason the Bible still is Jubb;Kennedy.
