Customer Reviews
As an inexperienced vet student I found this book to be extremely helpful. The paragraphs are laid out neatly, the text is very organized, and the pages are full of color images, diagrams, and radiographs which supplement the text nicely. The book is small which makes it easy to keep and use as a reference. The pages are very good quality as well.
The text is extremely well written and gives the perfect amount of clinical relevance needed to understand the dynamics of working up a vague clinical sign like a cough or sneeze. Its very easy to read an entire chapter straight through without having to stop and re-read convoluted and verbose paragraphs. The information flows and makes sense in an effortless manner.
Considerable space was devoted to explaining certain clinical techniques that I had never been exposed to (ie placing a chest tube or performing a transtracheal wash). These procedures were outlined with color images and diagrams that made it easy for a visual person like myself to picture and understand the procedure and why one method of sample collection is preferred over another.
Overall, this book is not laden down with unnecessary details related to each disease or concept (which I found to be a plus) but it is quite informative nonetheless. If you are familiar with basic veterinary terminology and anatomy, its an easy read. Definitely a keeper.
Lynelle R. Johnson's CLINICAL CANINE AND FELINE RESPIRATORY MEDICINE emphasizes a user-friendly format and offers chapters on a range of disorders. General practitioners and vet students receive a reference that uses a consistent layout and an easy at-a-glance format, along with black and white and color diagnosis photos. No vet's collection should be without this!
